Health and safety planning is required by law and is incredibly important for a successful event. The current relevant Acts are:

Event Safety Risk Assessment and Management Plan (2018) - The purpose of this document is to provide practical guidance on how to safely manage events in order for you to meet your obligations under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 (HSWA) and manage risk of harm to people or damage to property. Please note this guide was published in 2016 and should be read in conjunction with more recent guidance around pandemic management and protecting our places from attack.

Sexual Harassment

SoundCheck Aotearoa offer a range of resources to assist everyone in the music & event community to prevent and respond to sexual harassment and assault (sexual harm) in their workplaces. Some of the resources also address bullying and discrimination.

Drug Management

The health Promotion Agency working with the NZ Drug Foundation and several promoters and venue operators have developed guidance on drug management at events. See here https://drugsatevents.nz/

Guidelines for Managing Alcohol at Large Events - Provides best-practice models and other guidance information. It is for individuals and agencies involved with ensuring that alcohol consumption at large events is managed legally and effectively.
