COVID-19 INDUSTRY UPDATE: ETSP Payment Triggers Removed

04 February 2022

ETSP Payment Triggers Removed

MBIE have today confirmed the details of an immediate amendment to the payment triggers for the Events Transition Support Payment (ETSP) scheme.

In response to the current Omicron outbreak and uncertainty presented by the current COVID-19 Protection Framework Red setting, Ministers have agreed to remove all payment triggers for the current ETSP scheme. This means that claims can now be made immediately by eligible events scheduled to begin before 3 April 2022, that have cancelled or postponed since the Government’s announcement regarding moving to the Red Traffic Light Setting (23 January 2022), or by other eligible events that still wish to do so.

This will enable organisers to make decisions that are economically and socially reasonable in light of the ongoing uncertainty of public health settings between now and the end of the ETSP scheme (3 April 2022).

The removal of the payment triggers will be implemented immediately and relevant information on MBIE’s website will be updated as soon as possible.
