Staying informed & give us your feedback

The New Zealand events sector is increasingly concerned about the impact of COVID-19 following the weekend's announcement of stricter border controls, and the promise of further announcements to come regarding public gatherings.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has indeed signaled the government will be issuing further guidelines and requirements for public gatherings early this week, indicating that "large events where things like seat numbers cannot be tracked are likely to be cancelled to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus". More on this when the official announcement has been made.

Further to our two previous updates on COVID-19, our advice remains the same. We encourage event professionals to keep an eye on the Ministry of Health's website, which has just been updated, to follow their advice for public events and mass gatherings, whilst taking time to understand and plan for future impacts on your business.

For those who engage St John's services at your events, you may be interested in their latest Advice for Event Organisers document, which details their service delivery approach in light of COVID-19.

Industry impact survey

Further to our email last week, NZEA is working closely with central government in order to assess the situation and what kind of sector support is required.

In that regard, we'd appreciate a few minutes of your time to complete this survey so we can get a sense of COVID-19's impact on the events sector to date and share these insights with the government.
